Iced Chemex 8-Cup Brewer

Want iced coffee that’s smooth, bold, and crystal clear? The Chemex 8-cup brewer makes it easy. Brew it hot and strong, pour it over ice, and enjoy a chilled cup that’s as refined as your pour-over game.

Brewing Instructions

  1. Scoop and Grind: 1:16 ratio — something like 30g of coffee to 480g of water.

  2. Grind it medium-fine, like table salt.

  3. Boil your water (around 200°F is perfect — no thermometer? Just let it sit for 30 seconds after boiling).

  4. Pop your paper filter in the Chemex and rinse it with hot water. This gets rid of any papery taste and warms things up. Toss that rinse water before brewing.

  5. Take the filter out for a sec, set your Chemex on the scale, and add 175g of ice to the bottom. Tare the scale, put the filter and coffee back in, and you’re ready to go.

  6. Pour just enough hot water to soak all the grounds. Let it sit for 30 seconds while the coffee blooms and wakes up.

  7. Slowly add the rest of your water in small pulses, keeping the water level nice and steady. The whole brew should take just over 3 minutes.

  8. Give it a swirl, pour over more ice if you’d like, and enjoy that smooth, bold, perfectly chilled cup.
